St Francis artwork by Richard Soler

January 5, 2016

We got the opportunity to photograph this lovely art piece just before the clients that commissioned it were to pick it up. The detail and approach were amazing. We asked the artist, Richard Soler, to give a little background on this piece.

"The piece of sculpture represents St. Francis as a reliquary, a vessel that contains the relics of a saint.  He opens up and reveals a monstrance containing the relics of St. Francis, St. Clare of Assisi, St. Regis, and St. Blandine, surrounded by antique ex votos.  The companion pieces are fantasy arm reliquaries.  The three pieces are made of a combination of papier-mache, clay, and found objects. They are painted with acrylics and dusted with rottenstone."
